About this trip

10-Day Akhaltsikhe, Rabati & Batumi Tour is a private, 10-day journey through Tbilisi · Kutaisi · Batumi · Kakheti · Sighnaghi · Gudauri, run by our own guides and drivers rather than subcontracted to a local agency. Mountains, monasteries and eight thousand years of winemaking, two hours from the Gulf.

You travel as your own group, no strangers, no fixed coach departure. The itinerary below is our recommended shape; a consultant can move a day, add a night or change a hotel before you commit to anything.

Pace: Several long transfer days and full sightseeing days throughout.

Day by day

The outline of this trip. Your consultant sends the full day-by-day programme, with timings, once your booking is confirmed.

  1. Day1

Arrive Tbilisi, then the Tbilisi City Tour (full day).

A full day to fall for Tbilisi. It begins high above the city among the bronze pillars of the Chronicles of Georgia, each taller than a house, and finishes on Mtatsminda with the whole capital spread below. In between come the sulphur-bath quarter where legend says the city was founded, an ancient fortress, a waterfall tucked into the old town, and the lanes where Tbilisi goes out at night. Curious about a sulphur bath or the cable car? Ask us.

  2. Day2

    Kakheti & Sighnaghi Wine Tour.

Georgia has made wine for eight thousand years, and Kakheti is its heartland, home of qvevri, the clay jars buried in the ground to age it. The day leads to Sighnaghi, a hill town of terracotta roofs and walls long enough to walk, looking across the Alazani Valley to the snowline of the Caucasus. On the way: the monastery where St Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia, is buried, and a traditional Kakhetian winery. A tasting is easy to add.

  3. Day3

Free day in Tbilisi. Overnight Tbilisi.

  4. Day4

    Gudauri & Kazbegi Tour.

The Georgian Military Highway at its most dramatic. The road climbs past a fortress mirrored in a turquoise reservoir, over the Cross Pass at almost 2,400 metres, and down into Stepantsminda beneath the glacier of Mount Kazbek. Above the town, Gergeti Trinity Church stands alone on its ridge at 2,170 metres, the picture on countless postcards of Georgia. The day reaches all the way to the gorge at the Russian border.

    Overnight in Tbilisi
  5. Day5

    Gori & Mtskheta Heritage Tour.

Three thousand years in a single day. Uplistsikhe, a town carved into the rock long before Christianity reached Georgia, comes first; then Gori, its fortress, and the museum to the town's most controversial son, Joseph Stalin. The day closes in Mtskheta, Georgia's ancient capital, at a hilltop monastery and a cathedral nearly a thousand years old.

    Overnight in Tbilisi
  6. Day6

    Akhaltsikhe & Rabati Fortress Tour.

Rabati Castle looks like a film set: a mosque, a minaret, a church and a palace inside one ring of golden stone walls above Akhaltsikhe. It sums up this borderland, ruled in turn by Georgian princes and Ottoman pashas. Walk the ramparts and gardens, step into the museum, and take in the whole town from the viewpoint.

    Overnight in Tbilisi
  7. Day7

    Kutaisi Nature Tour.

Western Georgia, underground and on the water. Prometheus Cave winds for more than a kilometre past stalactites lit in colour, and Martvili Canyon cuts a turquoise path through limestone where the Dadiani princes once bathed. It is a long drive, and worth every kilometre. Ask us about a boat ride through the cave or along the canyon.

    Overnight in Kutaisi
  8. Day8

    Batumi Black Sea Tour.

Georgia's Black Sea city pairs a seven-kilometre seafront promenade with some of the boldest buildings in the region. The moving steel lovers of the Ali and Nino statue turn toward each other every evening, and just south of town Gonio Fortress has guarded this coast since Roman times. A yacht, the dolphins or a swim? Ask us.

    Overnight in Batumi
  9. Day9

Batumi Black Sea Tour (day 2, more time there). Overnight Tbilisi.

    Overnight in Tbilisi
  10. Day10

    Tbilisi City Tour (half day).

Tbilisi reveals itself in layers. The golden domes of Holy Trinity Cathedral rise over the city, then the old town draws you down toward the Mtkvari River, past a cliff-top church that has watched the water for more than seven hundred years and a glass footbridge that looks borrowed from the future. The day ends on ramparts that have guarded Tbilisi for sixteen centuries, with one more surprise hidden in a gorge right in the middle of the city.

How group size changes the price

A private tour splits the vehicle, the guide and the driver across your group, so the per-person price falls as the group grows. These are live figures for this exact itinerary.

Good to know

Visas
It depends on your passport: see visa rules for Georgia, each linked to its government source. We will tell you what we know, but the requirement is yours to check against your own passport.
Best time to go
May–June and September–October. We run this trip outside those months too, prices and conditions change, so ask.
Getting there
International flights are not included. Most travellers fly into Tbilisi; we meet you at the airport.
Confirming
The price you see is real, but it is a quotation until a consultant checks hotel and guide availability for your dates, normally within 24 hours.

Questions we get asked

Is this a group tour with other people?

No. Every trip on this site is private: your group, your vehicle, your guide, your dates. Nobody else joins you.

Can the itinerary be changed?

Yes. This is our recommended shape for 10 days, not a fixed product. Add a night, drop a day trip, change a hotel tier, a consultant reprices it before you commit.

Is the price per person or total?

Prices show per person based on two people sharing a double room, with the total alongside. Solo travellers and larger groups price differently, the table above shows how.

When do I pay?

Nothing is taken through this website. A consultant confirms availability, sends a written quote with the payment schedule, and only then do you decide.

What if the weather closes a mountain road?

It happens, mostly outside the months above. We offer the nearest equivalent we can arrange and explain any difference in cost, either way.
