About Travo
We are the operator, not the middleman.
Travo has run private journeys across the Silk Road and the Caucasus since 2016, carrying more than 10,000 travellers with our own guides, our own drivers and our own vehicles in every country we sell.
What "our own ground team" actually means
Most websites selling tours in this region are resellers. They take your booking, pass it to a local operator, who passes it to a driver nobody at the company has met. When something goes wrong at nine in the evening in Bukhara, there are three phone calls between you and the person who can fix it.
We are the local operator. The guide who meets you at the airport is on our payroll, the vehicle is ours, and the hotel contract has our name on it. That is a slower business to build, and it is the only reason we can quote you a real price in two minutes rather than asking a supplier and coming back tomorrow.
It started in Georgia, which is still where we run most trips and where almost all of our 227 Google reviews were earned. Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan came after, each one opened the same way: our own people on the ground first, then trips for sale.
Why the prices on this site are unusual
Every figure on this website comes out of the same booking system our consultants use to quote a trip. Nothing is a brochure estimate rounded up for the web. When a page shows a per-person price, it was calculated when that page loaded, for those dates and that group size, from 69 day tours and 113 hotel contracts we hold across 5 countries.
Change the group from two people to six and the number moves, because the vehicle and the guide are being shared differently. We show that on every trip page rather than quoting an average, including the point where a larger group needs a bigger vehicle and the per-person price goes back up. An average would be easier to sell and would be a lie.
It is also why our consultant will not guess. It either quotes a real figure from the system or tells you it has to check.
Where we operate
| Country | Base | Day tours | Cities | Itineraries | Lengths |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia | Tbilisi | 18 | 6 | 52 | 2 to 15 days |
| Uzbekistan | Tashkent | 7 | 4 | 35 | 3 to 10 days |
| Armenia | Yerevan | 13 | 4 | 29 | 3 to 7 days |
| Azerbaijan | Baku | 14 | 3 | 28 | 2 to 8 days |
| Kazakhstan | Almaty | 17 | 2 | 33 | 3 to 9 days |
These are the tours and cities currently loaded in our pricing system, not a wish list. If something you want is not here, ask: we run trips that are not on this website, they just cannot be priced instantly.
What we will not do
- Invent a review. Our rating is 4.9 from 227 reviews on Google, and the ones quoted on this site are real people, unedited. Most describe Georgia trips, which is where we have operated longest. We have not written reviews for the other countries and will not.
- Quote a price we cannot honour. If our system cannot price something for your dates, we say so and have a consultant come back to you. We do not fill the gap with a number.
- Hide what is excluded. Every trip page lists what the price does not cover, level with what it does. Undisclosed exclusions are what produce an argument at the end of a holiday.
- Take your money before a person has checked. This website cannot take payment. Availability is confirmed by a human being first, always.
