About this trip

7-Day Tsaghkadzor, Jermuk & Geghard Tour is a private, 7-day journey through Yerevan · Tsaghkadzor · Geghard · Khor Virap · Amberd · Jermuk, run by our own guides and drivers rather than subcontracted to a local agency. The world’s oldest Christian nation: rock-cut monasteries under Mount Ararat.

You travel as your own group, no strangers, no fixed coach departure. The itinerary below is our recommended shape; a consultant can move a day, add a night or change a hotel before you commit to anything.

Pace: Several long transfer days and full sightseeing days throughout.

Day by day

The outline of this trip. Your consultant sends the full day-by-day programme, with timings, once your booking is confirmed.

  1. Day1

Arrive Yerevan, then the Yerevan City Tour.

Yerevan is built from pink volcanic stone, which is why Armenians call it the Pink City. See it from the top of the Cascade, a giant stairway of gardens and modern art with Mount Ararat on the horizon on a clear day, then walk the squares and café streets below. The day also includes the Genocide Memorial, the most moving place in the city.

  2. Day2

    Tsaghkadzor & Dilijan Tour.

Armenia's lake and forest country. Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, shines below a monastery on its peninsula. Next comes a mountain resort with a medieval monastery at its edge, then Dilijan, the forest town Armenians call their Switzerland, hiding a 13th-century monastery in the trees.

    Overnight in Tsaghadzor
  3. Day3

    Garni & Geghard Tour.

Armenia's two most famous sights, side by side. Garni is a first-century Greco-Roman temple, the only one still standing in the former Soviet world, above a gorge lined with basalt columns so regular they look carved. Geghard, a UNESCO-listed monastery cut partly into the cliff, has chapels where a single voice fills the rock. Ask us about baking lavash or hearing the duduk.

    Overnight in Yerevan
  4. Day4

Khor Virap & Areni Wine Tour.

Mount Ararat never looks closer than from Khor Virap, the monastery where Armenia's conversion to Christianity began with a saint imprisoned in a pit. South of it lies wine country: Areni, whose nearby cave held the world's oldest known winery, and Noravank, a red-stone monastery deep in a narrow canyon. A wine tasting is yours if you want it.

    Overnight in Yerevan
  5. Day5

    Amberd & Saghmosavank Tour.

High-country Armenia. A hillside of giant stone letters celebrates the Armenian alphabet, a monastery stands on the lip of a deep canyon, and Amberd, a fortress at about 2,300 metres on the slopes of Mount Aragats, is as remote and windswept as it looks. Higher still, Lake Kari is often ringed with snow well into summer.

    Overnight in Yerevan
  6. Day6

    Jermuk Wellness Tour.

Jermuk is Armenia's spa town, famous for hot mineral water that pours from stone taps in its drinking gallery. The road there crosses the Selim Pass, past a 14th-century Silk Road caravanserai, and the field of carved cross-stones at Noratus, the largest of its kind in the world. At the end, a waterfall drops some seventy metres down the gorge.

    Overnight in Goris
  7. Day7

Free morning, transfer to the airport for departure.

How group size changes the price

A private tour splits the vehicle, the guide and the driver across your group, so the per-person price falls as the group grows. These are live figures for this exact itinerary.

Good to know

Visas
It depends on your passport: see visa rules for Armenia, each linked to its government source. We will tell you what we know, but the requirement is yours to check against your own passport.
Best time to go
May–June and September–October. We run this trip outside those months too, prices and conditions change, so ask.
Getting there
International flights are not included. Most travellers fly into Yerevan; we meet you at the airport.
Confirming
The price you see is real, but it is a quotation until a consultant checks hotel and guide availability for your dates, normally within 24 hours.

Questions we get asked

Is this a group tour with other people?

No. Every trip on this site is private: your group, your vehicle, your guide, your dates. Nobody else joins you.

Can the itinerary be changed?

Yes. This is our recommended shape for 7 days, not a fixed product. Add a night, drop a day trip, change a hotel tier, a consultant reprices it before you commit.

Is the price per person or total?

Prices show per person based on two people sharing a double room, with the total alongside. Solo travellers and larger groups price differently, the table above shows how.

When do I pay?

Nothing is taken through this website. A consultant confirms availability, sends a written quote with the payment schedule, and only then do you decide.

What if the weather closes a mountain road?

It happens, mostly outside the months above. We offer the nearest equivalent we can arrange and explain any difference in cost, either way.
